Discover Financial                                                                                                                     February 2011 - Present

Development Specialist

Manage and develop a team of thirteen people by coaching each analyst based on their own personal needs

·         Designed a self-evaluation coaching method that is being used throughout the department to help the analysts self-evaluate the areas they wanted to improve

·         After implementing the new coaching method, team was ranked as “Top Team” for the first time in a year

·         Created an Excel-based tracking system to prevent duplication of analyst work; system was rolled out to all 300 employees in the New Accounts department and is estimated to increase analyst efficiency by 8%

 

Quality Reporting Specialist

Worked directly with the manager of the quality team to manage Access databases, pull reports, and analyze data

·         Identified an inefficient process that took 40 hours of manual data entry; developed a program in Access that automatically populates the data fields, eliminating the need for manual data entry and saving the company approximately $40 thousand in payroll per year

·         Streamlined databases required to track internal audits by removing data field redundancies and standardizing data field classification, reducing the number of databases needed from eight to one and eliminating the IT department’s concerns about storage space required

·         Created an automated notification system that alerted team leaders and management of errors in their department within minutes rather than in monthly reports, resulting in a 10% improvement of employee accuracy as measured through internal audits

 

Reporting Specialist

Managed and tested Discover’s internal reporting system that tracked the department’s key metrics

·         Worked closely with our software vendor that supplied the site to ensure that any errors or issues were reported and resolved

·         Created a metric-analysis tool using statistical variance to determine development needs

·         Developed, and managed, an Access database that allowed managers in headquarters to input, edit, track, and update all projects requested for the entire department

·         Used SQL to retrieve data for management from Teradata

 

Senior Accelerated Test Lab Analyst

Tested new processes and measured their productivity gains against current methods

·         Validated results using statistical analysis and presented findings to upper management

·         Developed a new script designed to increase the number of accounts activated within the first month of approval; analysis showed an increase in activation by almost 6%

·         Built a database that allowed analysts to rate the senior members of the team on how they managed each test, allowing the manager to identify areas of improvement for each senior analyst
